Welcome

We hope you will find much of interest about the history of Dilwyn on this website. Taking the time to explore the various sections and items should reward you with some very useful information about the history of the parish. We are constantly updating and adding to this website, so it is worth visiting regularly to keep up to date with the latest additions and updates.

Historic Dilwyn

Mentioned in the Domesday book, present day Dilwyn is the result of more than a 1,000 years of settlement. Because of this, Dilwyn has many historic buildings, interesting features and a rich heritage. The central village itself is designated as a conservation area. However Dilwyn is more than just a central village. The civil parish is very extensive and includes many hamlets of historic interest, some of which are also mentioned in Domesday. It is our intention, therefore, to include the full parish in both our projects and researches.
